The Sewing Basket & Sew Sampler July 2024
I decided it was time to make another visit to Plymouth, WI to adventure out to The Sewing Basket. Earlier this past summer I decided to visit the shoppe and purchase as Moda Layer Cake by the designer Zen Chic with the pattern Flirtation. Knowing it was a previous run fabric pattern, finding additional prints might be a challenge. Well, as I get close to finishing my quilt top, I figured I better find my backing and binding. My local quilt shoppes no longer carry that pattern. I check on-line as well and Etsy was the only place that had some yardage left. I figured my only hope was to go out to The Sewing Basket to see if the had yardage to complete my quilt project. And they did!!!
I’m so very thankful for finding additional yardage for this pattern. Vicky came to the rescue to help me find the best backing and binding pattern. She also helped me with my yardage amount which was huge. This quilt will be 48” x 48” and will be throw for my new neutral color couch to give it a pop of color!
If you haven’t been to The Sewing Basket, you must go! The way that Elayne displays color selections through the store is not only extremely helpful, but it gives you inspiration to choose other prints that might work just as good as a solid or a grunge. She sells lot’s of kits and has lot’s of examples to share. Very affordable projects and fat quarter bundles too!
These are the finished blocks I’ve created for my quilt top. Now, I’m trimming them all down to 8.5”. Can’t wait to lay them out next!
I also filmed my July 2024 Sew Sampler Box from Fat Quarter Shop! This was one of the best boxes from Fat Quarter Shop in a long while. 3 charm packs with a matching pattern and foundation paper piecing to boot! A stash and store from It’s Sew Emma and a cute bucket bag branded by Moda Fabrics. Also a Sewline glue pen. An $85 value for just $29 plus tax and shipping. Make sure to watch this video where I update you on my quilt project and share quite a bit of bloopers too.
Just one month away before I hear back from Bernina about the Ambassador program. Keep you fingers crossed for me as I find out the news!!! I’m so excited!
Share any fun project you are working on below. I would love to hear from you! What’s your favorite pre-cut to work with? What was your favorite item in the July box?
Thanks so much for joining me on this journey! Remembers, the most important thing is to share acts of kindness!
Big hugs friends,
