Loose Threads

Loose Threads in Milton, WI is an awesome quilt shop with a wide variety of Moda Fabric designers.

Back in March of 2020, was the first time I visited this awesome quilt shop with my friend Diane and was amazing at the amount of quilt samples, kits and variety of fabric designers, especially Moda. Then the pandemic hit and I finally made a trip back this past Saturday.

Mary Jo was super helpful and a delight to get help from! She was sharing a technique she learned from Riley Blake with me on how to cut 4 half square triangles all at once. So cool!

Earlier in the day I called around 8 quilt shops with in 60 miles of Milwaukee looking for a Moda Designer Janet Clare and her new pattern Collage. If I were closer to Door County, I would get it from Barn Door Quilts. Especially, since none of the other shops had this designer. By the time I got to the end of my list of stores, I remember Loose Threads and their large collection of Moda and Riley Blake yardage and pre-cuts. I called them and chatted with the owner Mary Kay. I can’t tell you how amazing and accommodating she was to me. She remembered seeing it someplace since it just arrived. She asked if she could call back. 60 min later, she found it and called me back. I joyfully hopped into my car and drove 55 miles to this amazing quilt shop in the rain to Milton, WI. You know it’s a good quilt shop when someone desires so much to help and return your call. That’s just great customer focus and passion about sharing kindness. You know that’s my mission for my blog… above all else, sharing kindness is all that really matters.

Mary Jo was the employee that helped me when I got there. I couldn’t get over all of the kits they sold with their samples hanging on the wall. See the photos below to see some of them. This store is a pre-cut haven too! They are also a Pfaff dealer with a select number of machines and accessories.

I’ve come to realize that local quilt shops are less about quilting and more about people connecting and cultivating communities. I find so much gratification to go to as many different shops as I can and it never get’s repetitive. I’m still in awe that Wisconsin has over 70 active quilt shops. Starting on June 1st, there will be a state wide quilt shop hop which I will be blogging about closer the end of May.

Once again, thanks so much for taking time to read my posts. It really means the world to me. Please leave comments below if you’d like to share something! I will always respond to your comments.

Big hugs,

Scott
