Point Beach State Forest

Half a mile in on my 3 mile hike of the Ridges Trail at Point Beach.

The first place I’ve ever camped at (other than my backyard growing up) was at Point Beach State Forest in Two Rivers, WI. Bike and hiking trails follow along the natural ridges that formed along the lake shore. Albeit, it gets a little infested with biting horse flies, the beauty of the park makes up for that. Located halfway between Milwaukee and Door County. It’s a great place to relax and bond with nature.

I decide to come and visit after not being here since 2020. Took a 3 mile hike of the Red Trail which is part of the Ridges Nature Trail. It’s a basic loop around with small inclines. No climbing at this park. But the scene is all along creeks and forest. You’ll find little frogs on the trail along with very few garden snakes. It’s enjoyable. The smell of campfires is in the air with the expansive camp grounds fill the air. Not too many mosquitoes, but where ever there is shade near the beach, there are biting flies. Horse flies. Mosquito repellent doesn’t work well either. Stay in the sunlight and off the muddy trails and you’ll be fine.

I did 3 miles in 53 minutes. A really beautiful hike. Enjoy my photos below! Two Rivers, btw has an awesome Quilt Shop in town as well. So worth the visit!

Hugs,

Scott
