Can You Bambu?
Well after a year of working with my AnkerMake 3D printer, I decided it was time for an upgrade when Bambu Lab decided to do an extended Black Friday Sale that started at the beginning on November. A year ago when I wanted the P1S, it was literally $300 more in cost. The demand of these amazing printers have skyrocketed and has made Bambu Lab’s printers so cheap, they can’t be competitive with what it’s already out there.
I upgraded to Bambu Lab, because it’s a flourishing company in the 3D maker space and have led the way with “plug and play” 3D printing. The apps including Maker World and the Bambu Slicer are exceptional and very easy to use. You can even print directly from you phone and tablet. Bambu Lab has been making 3D printing like a Cricut experience with out crazy subscription fees. Currently, on the computer based version of Maker World, you can create your own Holiday Ornaments right on the website using templates, custom text and your own designs. It’s super cool!
I did purchase the combo version of the P1S, which means it comes with the AMS…Multiple Materials unit. That means it can print up to 4 colors at a time in one print. The P1S can be integrated with 4 AMS units allowing up to 12 colors total. Giving you the versatility to print multi-color prints. Most 3D printers just print with one continuous color which for the most part is over 95% of all 3D prints.
The P1S is an enclosed unit unlike my AnkeMake M5C bed slinger design. The enclosure ensures better temp regulations for printing with custom materials like ABS, PETG and TPU. Also, it has fans and charcoal filtration for materials that create fumes like ABS. While ABS is a super durable material (LEGO is made with ABS), it releases strong fumes when heated to high temperatures. I mostly print with PLA & PLA+ materials (Poly Lactic Acid) which are a type of Bio-Plastic. I will be experimenting with TPU, which is a flexible material.
Watch my unboxing video where and share some practical uses you can use with 3D printing in your home. Back in the 80’s no one thought consumers would have Ink Jet Printers in the home and look at how that evolved. 3D Printers are very similar. Soon you’ll be able to print a cabinet knob for the kitchen, an organizer for your drawer & level tool right from home without leaving to go to the store. It’s also very eco-conscious too. Think about it. Stores buy simple accessories and tools to sell in their shops by the millions. Did you ever think about what happens to all that plastic when it doesn’t sell? It doesn’t always get recycled. It would be so much environmental to print what you need from an appliance at home and just pay a small fee to use that design. Currently, most designs are free! I found organizers that work with the IKEA Skädis peg board system. I don’t even have to buy the accessories from IKEA. I can go to Maker World or Printables websites and download those design right to my printer. Plus, I get to choose the color I want as well. We only print what we need! It’s amazing!
Not only is 3D printing practical, it’s fun! Currently you can download many quilting templates and rulers on most of the 3D printable platforms. On Maker World, when you type in Bernina, a ton of tools and accessories pop up that you can print and utilize in your Bernina sewing machine. Think of something you use in your home, go to Maker World and type it in under search, I bet you’ll be surprised what you will find!
Thanks again for reading my posts. What do you find the most intriguing about 3D printing? Btw… supplies are super cheap, so it’s not an expensive hobby by far. I’ve spent more money on a spool of sewing thread than I have on a 1 Kilogram of PLA filament.
